Product Description

Welcome to NIMC MobileID the new Mobile Identity ecosystem, published by the NIMC as a part of its Mobile Web Services (MWS) suite of Personal Identity Services.

Your Identity BELONGS TO YOU, and NIMC is using these resources to put power back in your hands.

If you have been issued a National Identification Number (NIN) by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), you are welcome to download this application to try out.

NIMC is passionate to ensure that all citizens and legal residents are issued a digital identity.

To this end, there must also be a secure, trusted means of verifying that identity.
All you need do is download this app, enter your 11-digit NIN (NOT BVN!!!), your mobile number (you may only use a number associated to ONE NIN), set a PIN and you are done.
This app may also be used to verify the identity of others, or someone else may verify your identity.

If you submit the QR Code in the app for verification, you will be able to see who verified you and when.
NIMC will very soon, in collaboration with FRSC, FIRS, NIS and NHIS be issuing Mobile Driver's Licenses, Digital Tax Clearance Certificates, Departure Cards and maybe even electronic health cards, conformant to and compliant with International Standards (ISO).
We use state-of-the-art end-to-end encryption to protect your identity.

A portal is available at https://dashboard.nimc.gov.ng where you may log in to check or print all the verifications you may have made, or to self-print your NIN Slip.

You will need your UserID and a PIN from the app (located in "I Need a PIN").
If anyone wishes to verify your identity using Proximity, YOU decide what information to share. Gone are the days when you need to submit your Passport, Driver's License or Voter's Card which contains much more information than the agent requires.

If the verifier DOES NOT need your date of birth, then don't show it! If the verifier needs extra information, you may enable the same on your profile. But we will NEVER share personal information such as Next of Kin, home address, and so on.
NIMC has other platforms for that.

Innovation and Trends
Nigeria is not the first country in the world to issue a digital identity support application. The United States even has a Mobile Passport to enable US and Canadian Citizens to enter the country without the need to present their passport.

The Federal Government of Nigeria will very shortly make an official announcement and press release regarding the Improved NIN Slip and MobileID.
You will NOT require the Polycarbonate Physical Card to carry your identity around securely.
