Modernism is unthinkable without the contribution of female artists. The exhibition tells the multifaceted story of 26 female painters and sculptors who chose art as their profession with great independence and were successful.
Between 1880 and the 1930s they worked in Paris and Frankfurt and supported each other in international networks as teachers, collectors, patrons or actors in cultural policy. More than 75 paintings and sculptures provide an insight into the diverse art production of these important protagonists, who worked on an equal footing with their fellow artists.
