WPSApp

The WPSApp app assesses your network's security by utilizing the WPS protocol. This protocol permits WiFi network connections using an 8-digit pin number that is typically pre-programmed into the router. However, several routers from different manufacturers have either known or easily calculated pins. To test the connectivity and ascertain vulnerability, WPSApp uses these pins, implementing multiple algorithms for pin generation and default pins. It also determines default keys for some routers, allows access to stored WiFi passwords on the device, scans devices connected to the network, and analyzes WiFi channel quality. To discern network security, safe networks with unavailable default passwords are labeled with a red cross, those with an unknown pin are marked with a question mark, and potential vulnerabilities are identified with a green tick. Root user access is required for views of the passwords, allowed connections on Android versions 9/10, and additional functionality. The developer cautions that not all networks are vulnerable, and indicates the app only serves as a tool to ascertain security status. WPSApp advises users to update firmware or passwords to strengthen network security if they are found to be vulnerable. The responsibility for any misuse of the app rests with the user, as intrusion into other networks is punishable by law. Android 6 and above will require location permissions to operate. Samsung models with encryption may not display actual passwords, and LG models using Android 7 have connectivity issues.
